January White Sale.

Wanamaker’s, about 1876

I was curious about the origin of the “White Sale,” and upon looking it up, I learned that it’s been 136 years since Wanamaker announced the first one, which was for white bed sheets (the only color they came in, back then).

Sadly, due to ISP connectivity problems (meaning that I was using an unreliable pay-as-you-go provider) the Irish Firebrands White Sale had to be prematurely discontinued. 😦

In the meantime, I’ll be reading stuff like Siegfried Sassoon, and working on The Passions of Patriots….
