Open Office is pretty good. I used it for quite a while, only recently grabbing a Word subscription (it’s easier to do professional editing with that, in my opinion).

I was using Open Office (my OS is Linux Ubuntu), but it was eventually upgraded to Libre Office. I didn’t know Open Office was still around.
If I want to send out a manuscript the only thing I have to do with it is to ‘save as’ and change the suffix to .doc
